Birthday Note and Wolf (neo)Totemism

First, this is not a "I will guilt you into wishing me a happy birthday" post. Although, if you want to, that's fine... I can't even keep track of all the best wishes I've had off of Facebook. Had an Edible Arrangements sent to my office by my wonderful and loving partner - #nose nuzzles# Thanks Rachael - (sorry, all the chocolate covered strawberry's have magically vanished already), and a card from work (I blame Shawn for that... Thank you, though ;-)

Duamuteffe forwarded a very funny, and apt picture: (from: www.cartoonstock.com)

But with me thinking more about Neo-Pagan Totemism, or (for me) Therianthropy in my spiritual and religious practice, I thought to add that not only do I still continue to live and breath in this world, but so does that side of the Wolf. So in light of that, if there's something you want to do for this noticeable day of celebrating a whole integer number of years in my life (because, after all, I am only one day older than I was yesterday), then you could go and have a look at the following sites, and if able, donate or purchase something from them:

  • WolfPark.org - based in Battle Ground, Indiana. You can buy items, and even adopt a wolf.
  • Monty Sloans - Wolf Photography - Excellent photos, and for the Tech's out there, you can get your hands (and paws) on nearly-old hard drives that he recycles (way before mean-time-before-failure limits) and usually leaves on there a large number of wolf photographs.
  • NY Wolf Conservation Society - They even have their own traveling ambassador Wolf (If the grove was bigger, and had the funds, I'd so request a visit ;-).
Some of us have pets or work with animals, many of us like animals, and Pagans (esp. ADF Druids) are no exception. I might not be able to personally save one of the manifestations of Nature Spirits that are near and dear to me, but I can try and help those that are doing great work. Support those organizations!
I send forth a Howl to the Nature Spirits,
Wolf and your Kin through the ages past, and into the future.
Accept my Sacrifice.

I'm planning to donate to the local zoo/lynx exhibit when I have regular pay checks again. I think it's important that we communicate with our spirit animals in that way. :)
